Sunday School Classes
All Sunday School classes begin at 9:30 and are 1 hour long.
-Friends in Christ: Focus on the Bible as the text to seek the truth in God’s Word.
-Wired Word: Discuss current events, relating them to the relevant Scripture passages, and determine how we apply it to everyday life.
-Open Door: Discusses and reflects on the morning’s sermon.
-Womens: The ladies are starting a new study called "Living above worry and stress". Join us and discover practical ways you can eliminate the negative of worry and stress.
Preschool – 2nd Grade: Focus on key bible stories and the importance of prayer.
3rd Grade – 5th Grade: Expands on bible stories and characters. Students also learn the key components and strategies to prayer.
6th-12th grade - Youth of Impact learn how scripture still applies to us in very real ways.
IMPACT Student Ministry
Youth in grades 6th-12th are invited to Impact. Impact meets on Wednesday nights from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Worship beings at 6:30pm. Each week the youth discover ways that God's word relates to them in a very real and applicable way. Follow IMPACT on FB or check out their website here
Each semester at the Columbia Middle School we offer an after school program for five weeks. Students in 5th through 8th grade are welcome. We provide a Bible lesson, small group discussion, crafts, snacks and games. We have an average of 30 students each semester.
This ministry is a pregnancy resource center committed to providing free and confidential, non-judgmental help to men and women. We support them by participating in their baby bottle campaign (filling baby bottles with change, cash or checks). We also sponsor several tables at the annual fund raising banquet.
Kids 4 Christ
Bethany’s Kids 4 Christ (K4C) program offers opportunities for school aged children through 6th grade to grow in their faith. The children are invited to complete activities, related to Sunday School and sermon lessons, during Children’s Church twice each month.
Bethany had another fun filled time this summer with VBS! Each year’s theme helps children learn how to conquer challenges with God’s mighty power! All are encouraged to participate in a short opening and closing session with fun songs and dances. Attendees are divided into small groups based on age to listen to a daily lesson, make crafts, play games and enjoy snacks.
We partner with TWIGS, a non-profit mission based in Granite City, to offer free lunches to any children in Columbia during the summer. Our 2015 program was a great success. Bethany volunteers served 1,212 lunches from May 26 through August 14. Thank you to everyone who participated in the program.
UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
Bethany volunteers at Faith Lutheran Church in Columbia, to serve in Martha’s Kitchen, a community dinner provided every Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. Dinner guests come from near and far for prayer, fellowship and a hot meal. Bethany members donate and serve dinner four times a year.
Women's Bible Study
This past fall the Women's group started up again. Signups will be out soon for the spring session. Each week the ladies have a study that they read and answer questions based of the reading. Then one night a week they get together and discuss. This is a great way to connect with other ladies in the church and with God.
