CHURCH

About Us

Welcome to Bethany Church!  2019 wrapping around into 2020 have been good seasons for Bethany Church.  God is up to something!

Over the last seven-plus months, we have celebrated 5 Baptisms at Bethany Church.  We have received 14 people as members of the church.  We have another person who wishes to be baptized later, and we have several guests who are currently checking out Bethany Church as their church home.

Our Vision: See changed lives for Jesus Christ
Our Mission: See changed lives for Jesus Christ through:
Worship.
Discipleship.
Service.

Worship = worship as often as possible at Bethany Church!

Discipleship = become involved in a Sunday School Class, a Life Group, a Bible Study at Bethany Church.

Service = serve in the church, and serve in the community: twigs (summer feeding program for children), House of Neighborly Services (providing resources to people in Monroe County).  Serve others in a variety of ways, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Come as you are, receive biblical preaching and teaching of God’s Word.  Enjoy the music of our praise band, a hymn is mixed in periodically.  Enjoy some coffee, as well as a variety of Keurig Coffee selections, and donuts and pastries, in our Coffee Room (located just outside the Sanctuary).  Meet some new friends!

You are invited to Bethany Church this Sunday morning at 10 a.m. – we’d be happy to have you!  Say hello to me as well!  Let us know as you have questions or if there’s a way we can be a help.

What We Believe

The Inspiration of the Bible

We believe the Bible is the “inspired” (meaning “God-Breathed” Word of God, given by God for His people.  2 Timothy 3:16  All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.

The Person of Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is fully human and fully God (divine).  Although Christ’s humanity has a beginning, His divinity has always existed.  John 1:1, 14, In the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…  And the word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

The Virgin Birth (Mary was a virgin at the time of her conception.)

Jesus’ mother, Mary, conceived Christ by the agent of the Holy Spirit.  At that moment, Christ’s body was spoken into existence.  Read Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:18, 20.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is a member of the Godhead.  The Godhead is: God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit (also called the Holy Ghost).  The Holy Spirit is eternal, all-powerful, present, and all-knowing.  The Holy Spirit is “God in us.”  Read Acts 5:3,4; Hebrews 9:14; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14.

The Trinity (3 Natures from 1 Substance.)

We believe in One God.  The One God is Father (2 Peter 1:17), the Son (John 1:1, 14, 20:28), and God the Holy Spirit.  The three “separate and distinct” persons are the one God – equal in substance, power, and glory.

The Bodily Resurrection of Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ was literally resurrected from the dead.  Jesus died upon the cross at Calvary, but early Easter morning He physically and spiritually rose from the dead.  Christianity is a resurrection religion.  Read 1 Corinthians 15:1 ff (12-19).

Salvation through Christ Alone

There is no other way for one to enter into heaven except through the doorway of Jesus Christ.  Jesus says, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me.”  (John 14:6)  Jesus makes it plain, “There is no Plan ‘B’ for one’s eternity outside of Him.”
